The error message basically told me that I was using stolen or modified copy of the expansion pack. The instructions for installing and "enabling" this package is really poor, and after jumping through all the required hoops (registering, creating an EA account, entering the code, etc.), I was still unable to use the new maps. After purchasing the retail boxed copy of euro forces, I was unable to use it. The BF2 add-on pack (euro forces) can be bothersome to get enabled.
This adds zip line and grapple hook to certain kits. The BF2 Special Forces game is great also, but has less maps. If you have at least an Athlon64 3200, 1 gig of ram, and a 256MB video card, you should be able to pretty much max out all of the video settings and still enjoy great frame rates. Overall Review: Runs good on older hardware. Most servers are OK, but only the good servers are never empty. You clan people should be monitoring who gets admin permissions, not just giving these rights to just any nut job who donates to your paypal account. Some servers have whacked out admins who will kick you for killing them too many times. Also, the favorites screen seems to be a little messed up (scroll bar does nothing?)ģ. The multiplayer interface is a little buggy at times. I suppose it does stop most of the hacking.Ģ.
That's all I need, something else set to run when my machine boots up.
In my mind, creating a game using REAL weapons and vehicles is much more of an accomplishment than making up a bunch of imaginary weapons and vehicleĬons: 1.
Lots of servers - even though the game is several years old. Armor menacing your base? Jump in a jet and drop a load on them. Be a commander and coordinate the movement of your squads, drop supplies and scan the map for enemies. Be a squad leader so others can spawn at your location. Join a squad and use your headset to talk to your squad members. The medic is great for beginners because you can heal yourself. For example, if you are getting hit by the opponents artillery too often, sneak into their base with a special forces kit and blow it up. You can pick your style of play depending on the situation. Really excellent gameplay, with lots of different maps, weapons and vehicles to choose from. In my opinion, it is still the best Battlefield made to-date, and one of the best FPS games ever made, and a unique gaming experience.Pros: If you enjoy first person shooteres and have high speed internet service, you simply must buy and play this game on-line.
I guess the principle of abandonware applies to the game now, since it is no longer being published, isn't for sale, and as EA have been giving away remaining keys through Origin.Īs can be seen, there is a limited number of servers, either ranked or unranked, that are populated, but hopefully awareness and the free game download will lead to a player-base that grows beyond what it is right now. Yet Battlefield 2 lives on, including its online multiplayability, at this site: Ī team of fans have set up a nexus for Battlefield 2 servers, made possible by the server files for Battlefield 2 having been leaked long ago.Īnd more than just provide places to play Battlefield 2 online, they've also created a custom installer of Battlefield 2 that includes everything needed to play the game, which can be downloaded from the website freely. However, I've read reports that some people contacting Origin support and asking for a copy of Battlefield 2 have been given free Origin keys for the game, probably EA offloading its remaining stock. This also marked the end of Battlefield 2's availability for sale from sources like Steam, and Origin. If you're a Battlefield 2 fan, you probably are aware that Gamespy, the service which hosted Battlefield 2's multiplayer servers, shut down last year, and EA didn't make a new home for Battlefield 2's servers, instead retiring the game's online playability.
